Boy, were we ever excited when we bred Misty that first time. Even now, 4 years later, we love knowing a litter is on the way. Do we change the feeding of a pregnant momma? Yes, we do.

First off, we would not breed a female who is unhealthy in any way. This would include being overweight. An overweight female is more likely to have complications when birthing.  Thus, we are starting this pregnancy with a good weight. About 30 days after the tie (the breeding of 2 dogs), we start feeding our momma a high quality Puppy Food.  Then, I about 45 days after the tie, I add Snowflake Milk Replacer to her food. This adds calcium to her diet and insures a good milk supply by the time the cute pups show their faces.

We have yet to have a dead pup and they are all fat and healthy when born.
