How to reserve a puppy.... |

We have found that many people want to pick
their puppy based on personality along with their markings and structure. These
qualities are hard to assess before the puppies are 4 weeks old, so we
take deposits, and then allow the families to choose in order based on
when the deposit came in. Thus if the puppies are younger than 4
weeks and you write to me saying you would like a Liver and White girl,
I may not know if one is available or not. By the time the puppies are 5
weeks old, I have a much better idea of who is available. It will be your risk if you put down a
deposit before 4 weeks that the puppy you want may not be available. The
deposits are non-refundable. Last litter, all of our puppies were
reserved by the time they were 4 weeks old. Thus, if you are sure you
want a puppy, it is also advisable to put down a deposit.
We have had situations where more than one person wanted the same puppy, and it is very hard to manage this without hurting feelings. If you are sure you want a puppy, we suggest that you place a deposit on the puppy immediately. If a second party discovers the puppy and offers to buy, and if they appear to be a good home, we are foolish to turn them down when no deposit has been paid.
Another idea is to wait until they are 4
weeks old and then put down a deposit. Then you will know for sure that
the the puppy you are eyeing
was not picked. The risk involved here is that they may all be reserved
already. Our litter this year was completely reserved by four weeks of
age.
