Springer Spaniels

How did we start breeding dogs?

About 3 years ago, we were at a friend's house and she had a beautiful Springer Spaniel female who loved to chase balls. My sisters and I were having a blast throwing balls for "Misty" and we also loved the fact that when we would throw the ball in the pool, in she'd go, grab the ball, and back out!
(This is the puppy that mom gave back to Genia to say thank you for our Misty).

As we were leaving, Mom was teasing her friend with..., "Genia, Misty needs little girls to throw balls for her" to which Genia generously offered her to my mom, "You want her?" (Genia could see a mutual love between Misty and my family). Mom said, "Ummmm, My husband would never let me...you know that!" We left still thinking about the offer and devising a plan to beg Dad into it :) A couple days later, when we returned, with dad's consent, to pick up Misty, Genia told us that she would love a puppy of hers someday. Mom quickly replied, "Bill will never let me breed!!!!" Genia said we could take her anyway and see what happened.
We won dad over and bred Misty...  The dad of the puppies is a Liver and White, and so we got both colors, black and liver. All of us, including Dad :), loved the puppies so we decided to do it again. We have also had a great experience getting to know the buyers as each family waits for their puppy to be weaned.
We are a Christian homeschooling family so we are around the puppies all the time. Mom believes her mandate scripturally is to be busy at home, and she is! Our puppies get played with in ways that only children could ever imagine!

They are pulled around in wagons....
..made to carry plastic horse riders....

...put in wooden horse barns....

...and carried around like babies!

After Dad found out that we would not keep every single puppy born on our farm, he consented to let us breed some other choice dogs. The puppies are born right in our kitchen, hugged on many times each day and visited by neighbors who want some cuddle time. We put all of our pups through the Biosensor stressors and begin crate training.

We are not a business, this is just a side passion or hobby; we do it simply because of our love for the puppies and because our parents are such phenomenal dogs! Our dogs are not kenneled. They all have freedom of our acreage, unless they are with a litter or are in heat. We have a variety of dogs because we all love them all. None of us can decide which we like best. In fact, mom is always talking about a Burnese Mountain Dog ....And, I always dream of a Boxer. I don't think mom could ever be happy owning just one breed. Each is so unique and wonderful in their own way.

We long for an affection altogether ignorant of our faults.  Heaven has accorded this to us in the uncritical canine attachment.  ~George Eliot
