Springer Spaniels

Our beautiful girl, Misty, has a litter about one time per year. Males are priced at $550 and females start at $600.   Preventative worming, dew claws, tails and shots will be done prior to our puppies leaving us. The earliest our pups may leave is 7 weeks, but we recommend leaving them for 8 weeks at our home. Choosing between a boy a girl is difficult for many families. But, if you neuter or spay young, most gender differences are deleted. With young neutering, the male often does not even develop the habit of lifting his leg and will continue to squat.

Our first litter of puppies was a blast. We had such good reports and such a neat time with them that we decided to breed again. Two of our previous buyers also want a sibling to their dog, so we bred again. In our previous litters, the number of pups has varied from 7 to 10, with the number of boys and girls, Black & Whites and Liver & Whites being about even. We are hoping for about the same this litter.

And guess who this is? This is Misty as a puppy. Isn't she adorable?

Springer Spaniels make good "hood ornaments!"

The stud is also AKC registered with field championships in his lines. He lives here with us and loves following Misty around as she chases balls :) Being here, he is around children all the time and is very tolerant and playful around them. Here are some shots of Locked and Loaded. "Roscoe," his family name, is a happy playful dog. CLICK HERE to see a video of him running and playing!
FIRST KISS :)
Misty loves to please! Our dogs can be on our Linoleum floors in our house, but are not allowed on my carpeting. Misty learned that within 10 minutes and sticks to that rule. By the emails that everyone sent on their puppies from the first litter, the puppies are very smart dogs too and want to please. They have learned the "doggie door trick" within an hour and continue to remember it! I have read that Springers are "hyper," but have not experienced it with Misty! They are agile and active, but not knock-you-over-hyper.
In our family, there are 3 girls that help tremendously with all of our animals. We are all very involved with the puppies which helps make them well socialized and sweet. These are puppies that are raised in a family. To read about how we started breeding, click here. Our dogs are not kept in kennels, the only time being right after the puppies are born to protect them.

There are 2 types of Springer Spaniels; field bred and show/bench bred. Both parents of these puppies are field bred and have championships in their blood lines. We do not hunt with our dogs, but they are wonderful family pets. Field bred dogs are bred for how well they prove themselves obedient in the field and how well they go through obstacles. They are not bred as much for their looks, nor for their coats. Show Springer Spaniels are bred for looks and coats...and not for trainability. One has looks and one has brains?? Actually, both the show and field Springers are wonderful dogs, but there is a difference. The field bred have shorter feathers so they do not require as much grooming. The male Field Springers have much longer feathers than the females. They are also leaner in build.

Click on this site: http://www.ess4field.com/fieldxshow.htm and it has a good comparison picture at the bottom of the page. But, most Field Springers are much prettier than the one pictured. You will want to notice how much longer the show's ears are and how much longer the field's tail is.

http://www.essft.com/fieldshow.html is a good description of the difference, but with no pictures.

They have got to be some of the cutest pups out there!!  I have their dews and tails done and they will also have their first set of shots by the time they are ready to go home.

We 3 girls are often found in the kennel in the morning when we are supposed to be doing chores...the pups are irresistible to us as you can see by our faces as we watch the birthing :)

Whelping out a litter is a family affair! Click here to read more details.

I had one Springer expert tell me that Springers do NOT point. They are flushers. This pup flushes also, but no one told him he was not supposed to point.
