We call him Donny! He is our beloved character that loves
attention and loves to pull a cart through the neighborhood. He
even graced the streets of Wickenburg (known as Hickenburg) this year pulling his cart
through the McDonald's drive through! He is driven regularly by
children, loves people, loves his mares, and you CAN'T GET BETTER
BREEDING!! (I, mom, was proofreading this and laughing at my
daughter's grand estimation of her beloved, Donny)
Donny has been DNA'd for
his genetics. He has an Agouti and a Cream gene. There is a 50%
probability of passing those onto his foals.
Click here to see Donny's baby
from 2006. Here he is with his favorite passengers. Donny's coat
is one that changes colors with the seasons. At times, he looks
black, at times he looks like a buckskin and at times he looks
like a bay. He does carry the Cream gene
and thus, has the ability to produce Palominos and
Buckskins.
My daughters can be caught on many an afternoon zooming around our
neighborhood with Donny pulling more than one passenger. He is in
excellent shape currently and drives regularly. He has always
been sound.
He came into our family while we were still blind to the incredible
breeding in his background. One eye-opening email came from
Julia
MacDougall of Sparkle Plenty Ranch who told me that Donny's breeding was
almost identical to her phenomenalDebonaire! Debonaire has been in the
Hall of Fame twice as National Grand Champion Senior Stallion & National
Grand Champion Open Pleasure Driving. He is the only horse in AMHA
history to achieve both of these titles.
The famous Buckeroo/Komokos cross has
produced many champions. Another horse that is closely related to
our Donny is
Little Kings Fired up Buck who is a World Grand Champion and
a World Grand Champion producer.
Boones Little Buckeroo is just one
of the many famous sires in Donny's pedigree. There is additional
information about the reference sires if you click on their name
in the pedigree.
When children come to the barn,
Donny is one we always get out to drive them and even to ride
him!

Donny has been in our Christmas Light parades, parades in
the city, caroling fun and birthday parties. He is not spooky at
all, and has been so reliable for us.
