| Entry page | WOW, OH, WOW!!! I was so excited to find a new Stud book on the AMHA site. Previously, I had been disgusted with their requirement of MORE money to access their studbook. After having been a member of APHA which includes free access to their studbook, it really irked me to pay AMHA more money to access their studbook. My irk is over. When I found they had put a link to www.horsestudbook.com on their homepage and it was free to register, my hopes climbed. Delighted and exhausted, (from staying up till 2 AM tracing our herd in the studbook), I now know how to use it, have researched till my eyes burned and added about 10 pictures to their records. You can look up your horses pedigree, find photos of horses in the lineage, find any descendants of your horse, past ownership is available as well as current, look at show records, search by owner or by horse and you can even add pictures of horses they don't have in their records. You can look up how many descendants and find their show record and owners. The only time I got miffed was when I could not for the life of me find anything on one of our mares. I looked and looked and changed her name trying to find record......then, I laughed at myself as I remembered she is AMHR. I was in the AMHA studbook! On the right side of the screen are buttons and one of them took me to the AMHR studbook! Now, if you look at the pedigrees of our horses, they are fairly complete with pictures. I love knowing all I can about a specific horse and this studbook was a big help! I encourage everyone out there to participate so we have even more information available about these special creatures! To get started in the studbook. your first move to use this studbook is to register with them. Once you do that, they will email you with a user name and a password. Once you can log in, look on the buttons to the left. Find the section labeled “Go To” and click on horses. At the top of the page is a window that says “search” by it. I have searched and searched at this point!!! Then, when you do pull up a horse, click in the square below the button that looks like this i (this is to the left of your horse’s name) and up will pull a new window with information about your horse. At the top are buttons to click that will show descendants, ancestors, pedigree (some with pictures), show history, and the past owners. I was excited for some of our mares are new to us and we knew that some of their babies were doing well in the show ring up to the point of being in the Hall of Fame. But, I didn’t know the names of the babies who had these accomplishments, nor did I know who the owners were. So, I could potentially be standing at the Touch of Class show and be watching a grown baby from one of our mares and not know it. I want to see what has been produced and by crossing what bloodlines….I have a ton more information now to go on. Anyway, for some odd reason, it all thrilled me to gain this knowledge of the minis.
